the book

         this is a picture of the book that I am reading.

Quote

     I got this quote from my book it means alot and has a big part of this book.  This is a quote from Jack Phillips.  "Brendan (one of the killers) was very interested, and very respectful.  He wouldn't touch a gun unless he asked first.  But he was fascinated by them.  He had to pick up each one, get the feel of it, sight it.  You know, the very same things gun people do.  He was a natural." 

     For me this quote showed he knew how to use a gun but why was he so polite how does that turn into keeping hostages and killing a few of them then suicide.  I just don't get it at all, he is one wierd kid.

Conflict

    Give a boy a gun has one big conflict in the book.  The conflit is when they are at the prom they lock everyone inside and keep them hostage.  The main characters that cause the conflict is Brandon Lawlor, and Gary Searle.  The reason that the conflict takes place is that the "popular," kids pick on Brandon and Gary so they want to get revenge on them.  They decide to get revenge when everyone is in the school on prom night.

Setting

Give a Boy a Gun takes place in a high school.  This book is about a bunch of teenagers that get bullied in the beginning, they are outcasts fat or ugly.  That is why they get picked on because they are different then everybody else.  The only friends they have are the other outcasts that get picked on also.  The main characters are Brendon and Gary who have been picked on for as long as they can remember.

     Todd Strasser was born 1950 in New York City, NY.  He has written more than 130 adult to middle aged children novels.  Before Todd Strasser started writing novles he was a journalist. Todd has written several award winning novels, the book that I am reading is Give a Boy a Gun although it didn't win any awards it is still a really interesting book.  This is a picture of Todd strasser.
